Poems, Prayers & Promises – John Denver

Project Goal‍

The goal of this project was to design a vinyl cover that visually represents the emotional tone of John Denver’s album Poems, Prayers & Promises. I wanted the cover to feel nostalgic, calm, and deeply connected to themes of travel, freedom, and home.

Concept & Inspiration‍

The design is inspired primarily by the song “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” To reflect this feeling, I used a photograph I personally captured on a sunny day of a biker riding along a highway. The open road, natural light, and sense of movement symbolize freedom, reflection, and the pull of home—key emotions present throughout the album.

Process

• Captured and selected an original photograph that matched the mood of the album
• Color-graded and enhanced the image in Lightroom to achieve a warm, nostalgic tone
• Refined the composition and visual balance in Photoshop
• Designed the final vinyl layout, typography, and print-ready format in InDesign

Final Outcome‍

The final vinyl cover combines photography and thoughtful design to create a timeless, country-inspired aesthetic. The result aligns closely with John Denver’s music, especially Country Roads, while maintaining a clean and modern vinyl cover layout.
